Macao citizens will be vaccinated against COVID-19 voluntarily and free of charge

Macao novel coronavirus Infection Response Coordination Center said on the 7th that the SAR Government is actively contacting suppliers for ordering COVID-19 vaccines, and the future vaccination of Macao citizens is voluntary and free.

The Emergency Response Coordination Center stressed that the SAR Government expects to introduce the first batch of vaccines by the end of the year, and the specific distribution still needs to be adjusted according to the supply, which will give priority to high-risk groups or people with special needs. According to the current situation in Macao, frontline anti-epidemic personnel, including medical care, fire control, police or citizens who need to travel to foreign countries, will be given priority in vaccination.

Macao plans to introduce a precise prevention and control mechanism based on zoning and grading, which has aroused widespread concern in the society. The Emergency Response Coordination Center stated that its implementation details have yet to be determined. The full communication between the SAR Government and the state in joint defense and control has enabled Macao to gradually resume normal exchanges with the mainland. If there are sporadic cases in some districts in Macao in the future, if there is no zoning and grading measures, it may be necessary to adopt a fuse mechanism, that is, all Macao people entering the Mainland must be isolated, which I believe the public does not want to see.

According to the Tourism Bureau, there are 1402 people under medical observation in designated hotels. In order to meet the needs of epidemic prevention, Luhuan Haitian Resort Hotel has been requisitioned as a designated medical observation hotel with 200 rooms since December 6th.

As of December 7th, Macao has had no local case report for 253 consecutive days and no imported case report for 164 consecutive days. A total of 46 cases were confirmed, with no death. Up to now, there has never been community transmission of COVID-19 pneumonia virus, and no medical personnel have been infected.
