How to Collect a Mid-nasal Swab Specimen for Covid-19 Testing

COVID-19 Mid-Nasal Swab Collection Instructions

1. Instruct the patient to tilt their head back 70 gradi.
2. Using gloves and keeping the tip sterile, rimuovere il tampone.
3. While rotating, inserire il tampone per circa un pollice o meno finché non si incontra resistenza a livello dei turbinati.
4. Rotate the swab 3-5 volte contro la parete nasale e ripetere nell'altra narice con lo stesso tampone.
5. Place tip of the swab into the transport media, rompendo l'albero.
6. Replace the top of the vial and ensure it is securely fastened.
7. Confirm that the name and date of birth on the vial are correct.
