This unique structure creates a highly absorbent surface with no internal mattress core to trap the sample.
The secret to the effectiveness of a flocked swab lies in capillary action. Because the nylon fibers are standing upright and parallel to one another, they act like a sponge for liquid and cellular material.

As soon as the swab is placed in a liquid medium, it releases over 90% of the collected sample almost instantly.
