How to Collect an Oral Tongue Coating Sample
Step 1: Preparation
- Collect the sample in the morning before brushing teeth
- Wash hands thoroughly before sampling
- Avoid eating, drinking, or rinsing your mouth before collection
Proper preparation helps ensure accurate and uncontaminated results.
Step 2: Sample Collection
Gently rub the swab back and forth across the surface of the tongue for approximately 10 seconds.
⚠️ Important: Avoid touching teeth or applying excessive pressure.
Step 3: Transfer the Sample
Insert the swab into the collection tube containing preservation solution.
Step 4: Break the Swab
Break the swab at the designated breakpoint, leaving the swab head inside the tube.
